Tyler's Honduras Mission 2008

Update # 8

3 May 2008

After four months in Honduras, Tyler is back in the states now. His mom came to spend his last week there with him, working in the medical brigade where she served in the pharmacy and children's ministry. He has many cherished memories there and had to leave dear friends behind. But he's not really gone, he remains in the hearts of those he touched while he served there.

Maybe it was best said in Psalm 34.

I will extol the Lord at all times; His praise will always be on my lips. My soul will boast in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.

This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; He saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and He delivers them. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him. Fear the Lord, you His saints, for those who fear Him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

To end, some words by a modern day philosopher.

Another turning point; a fork stuck in the road. Time grabs you by the wrist; directs you where to go. So make the best of this test and don't ask why. It's not a question but a lesson learned in time. It's something unpredictable but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life. So take the photographs and still frames in your mind. Hang it on a shelf In good health and good time. Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial. For what it's worth, it was worth all the while. It's something unpredictable but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life.

Indeed.

Best wishes Tyler, the U.S. Navy is very fortunate to have you.

Editors Note - Tyler graduated from Trinity Lutheran School in 2001, Metro East Lutheran High School in 2005, and the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis in 2010.
